Born to Dr. Anjaneyalu and Dr. (Mrs) Subburathinammal on 31st August 1955
at Anakaputhur near Chennai City. Dr. (Mrs) Jamuna has lived upto her role
in the field of the Siddha system of medicine on registering
herself, on being qualified as a siddha practitioner, as B-II class under
the central board of Indigenous medicine, Tamilnadu with provision G.O.MS.
No. 3433 Health dated 26.11.1957, counting a span of Eighteen years, rendering
her outmost service to all apart from caste, creed and religion.
Starting her practice she was treating diseases of the liver, abdomen and
skin disorders successfully. Then came a day when she realized the social
problems faced by a woman who is not blessed with a child within a year
or two after her marriage. Harassment of the in-laws, threatening of her
husbands remarriage and above all, the title barren lady bestowed
on her by the society made Dr. Jamuna to set in search of a remedy for such
affected ladies. What made her more adamant and dedicated was the way these
ladies were exploited by other medical professional personalities giving
them false hopes. She carefully studied and analyzed the fore said problems
faced by an affected female and wondered why only hold responsible the female
and not her
husband. And if at all Medical assistance was needed way the husbands refuse
themselves to be subjected for investigation and examination.
An earlier said, after carefully analysing the facts and
fallacies, Dr. Jamuna has clearly stated the following in her article titled
Siddha Medicine System brings cheer and joy to Childless Couples.
She reports that, man and woman consider that them are blessed only if they
are blessed only if them bear a child and continue their progeny. A child
in their family is a symbol of love. Prosperity. peace and wealth. If a
man or woman, despite good physique and other efforts of healthy sexual
relationship, is barren, it is sterility. Infertility is a common phenomenon
all over the world, found among all climes and climatic
conditions. About eight crores of married men and women in the age group
of 18-40 suffer from this disease, a disease of curable character. Thousands
of families in
traditional and modern societies are broken as they are unable to bear a
child and continue the family tree. The bright future of a family is bleak
and insipid without a baby to shower their love and affection. Why do married
couples suffer from infertility although they are endowed with other reproductive
biological feasibilities and physically fit.
Dr. Jamuna further states that Biologists and Reproductive Medical Experts
opine that a women whose fallopian tubes are blocked or the ovaries afected
or uterus slanted is likely to be infertile. Likewise a man whose sperm
producing testes are sick or one who suffers from Azoospermia is infertile.
This kind of biological handicap is very rare and experiences show that
one in eighty million couples is found to suffer from this kind of biological
deficiency and defect.
She details the treatment provided in the Allopathy system and also of its
adverse effects saying that the childless couples can have Embryo transfer,
IVF and GIFT method, which have not forgone ahead are not popular as the
constraints are high rate of failure and cost intensive. She analyses the
adverse effects like of the D &C where the uterus may be cleaned but
leaving back the micro organisms which later damage the sperm entering the
uterus.
Regarding the investigations and treatment aspect, Dr. Jamuna reports that
the ordeal of tests and examinations cause damage, the hormones and the
chemical tablets and synthetic capsules results in reaction and certain
allergies which will
require another set of tests and doses of new medicines. Another problem
highlighted is the hormone excess given to induce eggs for ovulation results
in cyst formation and ultimate non-ovulation situation. Concluding that
the tests and examinations may not spot the atrophy of the cilia and deficiency
of eggs in the ovaries Dr. Jamuna finds a method to overcome the foresaid
problems.
Dr. Jamuna worked hard with all dedication to find a way to over come which
resulted as the achievement of her tireless efforts - a dream come true.
About her system of treatment, it is very simple. Abstinence from few habits which enables the husband and wife to harness their physical energy, discipline their system, to evacuate the effluents of the body, to purify their blood, rejuvenate the reproductive path leading to the bliss of the birth of the baby. The system is based on natural herbs and natural ingredients rendering new impetus for stimulation and active life. The herbal preparations of Dr. Jamuna enables for healthy production of eggs and proper ovulation, which also take care of any tubal block and patches in the Uterus.
Dr. Jamuna upholds the practice of culture. She stresses on
living a principled life. She maintains a strict code of conduct to her
patients. She simply rejects couples if found to be living an immoral life.
She is against smoking, consumption of alcohol and chewing tobacco on any
narcotics. She strongly believes that every individual should and must live
a life of morality, discipline, culture and holiness.
The services of Dr. Jamuna does not stop here. She reaches the outreached
and left uncared by starting a free clinic at her native place Anakaputhur,
in the name of her father under the Dr. Anjaneya Medical and Educational
Trust. Here a panel of doctors visit weekly twice providing free consultation
and medicines. She also organises a mass feeding programe and distribution
of free clothes twice ever year.
She is well recognised by the adolescent student community
for her active and close interaction with them. She never thinks twice to
participate in youth programes because she feels that the age of studentship
is the right one to feed the values and morality of life.
